Keltneyburn Smithy Gallery

Keltneyburn, Aberfeldy, PH15 2LQ

Keltneyburn Smithy is one of the most distinctive maker spaces in Highland Perthshire. Artist-blacksmith David Freedman works with recycled scrap metal to create everything from delicate garden sculptures to large-scale commissions. The gallery is a treasure trove of one-off pieces — each with a story. A fascinating place to visit and a perfect source of unique gifts.

There’s something magical about watching molten metal being bent and shaped by hand. At Keltneyburn Smithy, David Freedman creates remarkable artwork from what most people would consider junk — recycled scrap metal is reimagined as birds, animals, abstract sculptures, and functional pieces of real beauty.

The gallery is an Aladdin’s cave of metalwork, from small affordable pieces perfect as gifts to large garden sculptures and bespoke commissions. Every piece is unique, and David is usually happy to chat about his process. It’s about 15 minutes from Kenmore and well worth the detour.
