The Old Flax Mill
Falls of Dochart, Killin, FK21 8XE
The Old Flax Mill is a small artisan bakery and café housed in a beautifully converted stone building right beside the Falls of Dochart in Killin. Known for their slow-fermented sourdough, flaky pastries, and excellent espresso, it's become a destination in its own right for anyone passing through the village.
If you’ve ever stood on the Falls of Dochart bridge and noticed a wonderful smell of fresh bread drifting across — that’s The Old Flax Mill. This tiny bakery turns out some of the best sourdough in Perthshire, using slow fermentation and locally milled flour. The croissants are flaky, buttery perfection, and the coffee (from a Scottish roaster) is a cut above the usual Highland café offering. In summer, grab a table outside and eat your pastry with the sound of the falls behind you. There are few better breakfast spots in Scotland.
