Tombreck Farm Shop
Tombreck Farm, Lawers, Aberfeldy, PH15 2PB
Tombreck Farm sits on the south-facing slopes of Ben Lawers, six miles east of Killin on the A827. Run by Tober Brown since 1997, this 240-acre organic farm stretches from the lochside to 420 metres up the mountain. The farm shop sells free-range KuneKune pork, Castlemilk Moorit lamb, wild Ben Lawers venison, eggs, seasonal vegetables, and homemade preserves — all produced without chemicals on the farm itself.
Tombreck is the kind of farm that makes you rethink where your food comes from. Sitting on the quiet south shore of Loch Tay, directly beneath Ben Lawers, it’s a 240-acre patchwork of grazing land, ancient woodland, and herb gardens that has been farmed organically since Tober Brown inherited it in 1997.
The farm raises pedigree KuneKune pigs — charming, woodland-born animals that produce exceptional pork, bacon, and sausages — alongside rare Castlemilk Moorit sheep and free-range hens. Wild venison comes from the hill above. Everything is handmade in the Big Shed Kitchen, vacuum-packed, and clearly labelled.
What makes Tombreck special isn’t just the quality of the meat (which is superb), but the philosophy behind it. No chemicals, no shortcuts, no factory farming. The animals live well on one of the most beautiful stretches of land in Scotland, and you can taste the difference. The farm also maintains herb, flower, and vegetable gardens that supply the kitchen.
If you’re driving the south Loch Tay road between Killin and Kenmore, pull in at Tombreck. You’ll leave with some of the finest local produce in Perthshire, and a renewed appreciation for what small-scale farming looks like when it’s done with care and conviction.
