Birks of Aberfeldy
Crieff Road, Aberfeldy, PH15 2DD
The Birks of Aberfeldy is one of the most popular short walks in Highland Perthshire, following a well-maintained circular path through a wooded gorge above Aberfeldy. The walk was immortalised by Robert Burns in his 1787 poem 'The Birks of Aberfeldy'. The highlight is the Falls of Moness, a series of impressive waterfalls cascading through the birch-clad ravine.
The Birks walk is a Highland Perthshire classic — easy enough for most abilities yet genuinely dramatic, with the Falls of Moness thundering through the gorge below. In autumn, the birch trees turn gold and the whole ravine blazes with colour. Allow around 90 minutes for the full circular route. Robert Burns was so taken with the spot that he composed one of his best-known songs here.
