The vibrant heart of Loch Tay
Killin is the natural hub of the Loch Tay area. With a year-round population of around 700, it’s a proper working village with all the facilities a visitor needs — shops, pubs, restaurants, accommodation, and a community spirit that makes visitors feel genuinely welcome.
The village sits at the confluence of the River Dochart and the River Lochay, right at the western head of Loch Tay. This means water is everywhere — the sound of the falls is the village soundtrack, and the loch is just a short walk away.
The main attraction and one of Scotland’s most famous natural sights. A broad series of rapids and cascades right in the village centre. Free to visit, spectacular in all seasons.
Housed in St Fillan’s Mill beside the falls. Local history, legends, and clan stories. A gem on rainy days.
Killin is a walker’s paradise. From easy riverside strolls to serious Munro days, everything is accessible from the village.
Several operators offer kayaking, SUP, and other water activities on the loch.
Killin is on the A827, about 90 minutes from Edinburgh, 2 hours from Glasgow, and 45 minutes from Perth. Limited bus services run from Stirling and Callander.
